Prayaas: An Endeavor in Kathak

A stunning performance by Antara Bhardwaj full of storytelling, dance and intricate footwork. From the improvising intricate rhythms to the incredible footwork perfectly replicating a steam engine, this performance was a beautiful and unique experience to be part of.

Prayaas, which literally translates to ‘attempt’ or ‘endeavor,’ represents Bhardwaj’s attempt to carry forward the tradition of Kathak after the passing of her Guru, Pandit Chitresh Das, earlier this year.

Alongside Bhardwaj was an all-star accompaniment featuring Salar Nader on tabla, Pankaj Mishra on sarangi, Ben Kunin on sarod, and her Guru-sister, Farah Yasmeen Shaikh on recitation & manjira.
